How Story Shuffle works

Every shuffle gives you five moments from one short story, in the wrong order. Tap a moment to pick it up, then tap the spot where it belongs. You can also press the grip handle and drag, or use the up and down buttons.

Tap "Check my story" when you are happy with the order. If it is right, you see the finished story and one thing to notice.

If it is not, you are told how many moments are already in the right place, but not which ones. Rearrange and check once more. After a second miss the cards settle into the intended order so you can see how the story comes together.

A story is not just events in time order. Each moment should grow out of the one before it: a normal situation, something that disturbs it, what that causes, what the person does, and what is different afterwards.

Ask of each card: could this happen without the card above it? If yes, it probably belongs somewhere else. Long cards are not more important, and words like "then" are not reliable clues.

A story you arrange correctly is worth one point, whether it takes one try or two. There are no grades, no streaks, and no wrong turns worth worrying about.
